We/I haven't made a big point of highlighting the MNL numbers for a few seasons now, but after we nearly didn't run the service this year and a few questions about how many people watch I thought it was maybe worth shunting this over to the public board.
Firstly, I have to say a huge thanks to @Nott Simpson, @Russky and @bozman for covering for me this season, without their incredible help we'd have never managed to cover all the important games in the season just gone! Secondly, thanks to all the people who have continued to help us out with texts from the away rinks, and those who have battled against the almost complete lack of signal within IAW to get us coverage, your help and efforts really are appreciated!
On to the numbers below, it's clear to see how much our coverage continues to mean to fairly large numbers of people despite the massive growth and availability of webcasts; one of the primary reasons that we took the decision to run MNL at the start of the season!
The reason for the attendance figures being tracked are a hangover from the debacle hat season, with attendance figures dropping we started comparing the MNL viewing figures against attendances in the hope that our fans weren't being lost to the sport despite all the nonsense on and off the ice. These days it's amazing to see how many sell outs we've had and how much support the club has!
For those questioning the numbers against forum users, myself and @James made a decision 9 years ago to keep the two separate so that people didn't feel they had to register on the forum to view MNL or anything similar, so the numbers below are only unique viewers over the course of each game. Whether that person is logged in for the whole game or just 5minutes isn't something we keep track of, but it's fairly clear to see where the popular games are.
We also played the most games over the course of a season we ever have in the previous 9 seasons! 75 games this year beating last seasons record of 74, to win the number of games we have over that period is some going! I guess if we had covered the exhibition games at the start of the season we could have been heading towards 120,000 unique viewers, but it's always more fun to see the team live, plus the spelling of the names this season was a nightmare for us hosting MNL
Anyway, i'll leave this thread stickied for a bit, but again I just want to say thanks to everyone who has hosted MNL, texted the hosts, enjoyed the coverage, or donated to help us keep the service going this season! So thanks
