And then you get Bristol and an island team, and all of a sudden, its all not so rosy in the garden. sorry to say this but would the owners be looking over their shoulders and saying we can make a go of it at bristol and have a future? As it stands, in cardiff we are stifled. A new arena is needed

Utilita Arena Cardiff has 5,000+ seat requirement and has proven capability to install ice
and the fact that there is a new 16,500 capacity multi-purpose arena coming
may mean there is available booking space at the Utilita Arena. And they could get tennancy their.?
This was exactly where my thoughts were, worryingly. In an ideal world, a threat of Bristol helps somehow pull some strings re an ice pad in the new Bay Arena.

Once the new arena is up and running in the Bay, the plan is to demolish the Utilita Arena in town I believe ?

We and many other teams in similar/smaller rinks have attracted big name sponsors in the past - they are out there, it’s just a matter of having the right people in situ to attract them.

Off the top of my head:-

BT
Thomson
Cadbury
SAB Miller (Appletise)
Wella
Smirnoff
Heineken (League)
McEwens Lager
Silver Spoon
Sekonda (League)
Benson & Hedges (Cup)
Norwich Union (Cup)
British Aerospace - bonus point if anyone can remember who they used to sponsor!
There's some money's worth in that lot, this is a random guess , was the answer humberside or Billingham.

Wouldn't be surprised if that happens, though the blurb for new arena says it is designed to fill the gap between the Utilita and the Principality stadium, suggesting all three would co-exist.

I would read it that it’s bigger than the Utilita but smaller than the Principality, to cater for the in between crowds. They don’t need three venues and as I said that land must be worth a fortune.

Or well, that idea is dead then.
Official council documents and project plans explicitly state that the existing Utilita Arena will close once the new one is complete. Its site is earmarked for redevelopment as part of the broader Canal Quarter mixed-use plans (potentially including hotels, retail, public realm, etc.).
