Anyone notice the ice is bad the last few games, players falling for no reason, looks as if its melting in places behind the goal in patches block 5 end.

Is the second pad being used yet? If not, the main pad is probably being overused. If that’s the case, it’s not surprising that it hasn’t been great. Same for both teams though.

I did see those dark patches behind both goals, and some of the paint from the sponsors ads seems to be seeping. Looks a bit like the old MK Lightning pad but not quite as bad yet.

No ice down on second pad. Just being used for roller discos these days.

Deffo agree that the main pad is being over used. Pre covid, main pad would only be used for any Devils training sessions and any ad hoc training sessions by local teams in the evenings. With public skate and most teams training on the little pad.

Now the pad is being used constantly from about 8am until midnight every day of the week, so no wonder its taking a beating!

Could be cost cutting, ice pads aren’t exactly cheap to maintain with rising fuel costs and reduced attendance levels.

I’ve played on the pad recently and it’s fine and in good condition. The paint wearing doesn’t mean the ice is at a low level, it’s built up fine in those areas. We still have one of the best surfaces in the league.

They did start laying down ice on second pad couple of weeks ago but think that was for half term week so devils pad wasn't ruined with session after session, they're isn't that many sessions on devils pad udually so that wouldn't make a difference BUT depending on who drives the zamboni depends how good the cut is.

To be fair, if we look across at our closes neighbours in Bristol Ice Rink. They've only been open a few weeks and the ice is already deteriorating there. But that's mainly due to a combination of poor management, untrained staff and constant use.

Despite any misgivings, we're lucky to have the facilities and team we have in Cardiff
