Frozen Ponds

Was just browsing through a few posts on THF and was wondering if anyone knows of any frozen ponds or whatever in south wales at the minute?
it seems theres quite a few places up in Englands :/

Got friends in Merthyr and they've posted they're photos on FB, they spent 7 hours playing pond hockey today..lucky B****rs!!!

Was that in Penydarren on the tips? My mother was walking the dog up there and said there was people playing ice hockey on the pond.

iv lived in merthyr for 30 yrs and i had no idea there was a pond in penydarren!!!!! Wheres that by then?

There's one just over the back from me (in the Rhondda Valleys). I stood on it this morning and it creaked horrendously so I left it well alone. Some pond hockey would be a good laugh though.

Next to Penydarren High Street, opposite the Norton pub if you know where that is. The council put up new signs calling it Newlands Park, but most people just know it as the Tips.

I put my skates on a few days back and went for a quick skate outside my house in the courtyard. Had a good few mm of solid ice on the ground, plenty to skate on and hockey stop on etc. It was a pretty good laugh. If only it was always this cold i wouldnt have to trek down the rink the train... lol
