I honestly believe judging by batch and dowd bans this could be a long one. The slash to the neck area was ridiculous alone let alone the repeated punches and not ending the altercation when the linos jumped in. The red had to restrain him as well to get him off.

I don't miss big lou in those incidents. I miss vother. His next shift would be carnage and everyone in the building alongside the opposition knew it
The other MacWilliam (Mike) on the rampage would've scared Ullet to death.

Face off violation penalty 15 seconds from end of game!
What sort of referee calls that!
Fairly certain that the Lino did not give both sides the warning that a face off infraction had been incurred by both teams, so putting both teams on notice that another face off infraction would result in a penalty.

Matthews couldn’t wait to send the Devil to the penalty box, and because neither side was aware of the initial face off infraction, (as per usual with EIHL stripes) it took a long time for either side to know what was happening.

In previous home games, I’ve noticed the Devils get pinged for far more initial face off infractions than any other team. Not sure if this is down to changes in face off procedure, or if the Lino’s simply want to build their part up.

Agree, I dread to think what people would've made of the air horns that used to be so common in the WNIR.
Now that was LOUD, love the noise Block 13 brings (remember the Conti Cup last year as an example of where the atmosphere is going to remembered far longer than the actual games) and if people don't like it then they can sit away from that block and maybe jangle their jewellery from the posh seats.

It’s not about it wanting it quieter. That megaphone just sounds shit. I think it kills the atmosphere more than adds to it.
The Megaphone “can” sound good, sadly, the person using it of late, is not the most tuneful, and perhaps that’s why some people find it not to their liking - can’t fault the person’s want to support the team though - possibly hand the bullhorn to someone who is able to keep the same key tone?

Majority of them lot in Block 13 are nothing but hooligans. Totally embarrassing and paints a bad picture on our fanbase.
Which ones are the hooligans? The drummers? The ones with their shirts off? The one with the megaphone that gets the entire block going? The entire block it's self?

If you want to sit and needle point with the rest of the old ones who don't like an atmosphere block 4 is your best bet.

As someone who has been part of Block 13 since day one, I’d like to ask which of us you know, and which of us are “hooligans”?

The entire block is there to have fun, would you rather the block be filled with the beer swilling casuals who have no regard for the actual game?

Feel free to pop over and see us, we can show you that we’re genuinely just HOCKEY fans, looking to cheer our team on and bring something to match nights, if you’d rather not, no worries. We’ll see you in the bar for a beer.

Cheers.

Im at the opposite end in block 5. I thought block 11 including megaphone man did a great job. With the Devils not playing well they kept the atmosphere going.
I always thought the Devils had the best atmosphere until I watched a DEL match in Frankfurt. There is a constant pulse from the fans beating drums and singing all the way through and it makes for a great game. Its good to see some of that european influence in Cardiff (though that may be because I was a staunch remainer and love the european culture)

The louder the better, the passion is admirable and sometimes you see the team feed off that noise (when it is loud, soulful, melodic)....but please be in tune.

In a small arena, it doesn't matter where you sit (my seat in block 6) you are always going to hear someone on a megaphone singing out of tune. Prolonged chanting off key has a totally different effect on people eventually than a group of tuneful, passionate fans (whose effect invites everyone to jump on board)

You can bet the noisy block chorus leaders in the big European and North American clubs are in reasonable voice.;) Liverpool chanting fans are the Pride of the Premier League when they sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', Wales' Rugby fans when they sing our anthem and other team related songs.

Ditch the embarrassing megaphone and bring on the horns and big drums!

Couldn’t agree more. GAVIN misses the point completely, who wants a quiet hockey game?! Nobody!! But the “sound” coming out of that thing last night was embarrassing, killed the atmosphere stone dead and actually in my opinion effected the on ice performance because of the detrimental effect on the rest of the crowd. It was so bad and gave the players nothing to feed off. The best game atmospheres are the ones that just happen naturally, with players and crowd reacting to each other. We don’t need some out of tune moron with a megaphone drowning out everyone else. Give me the old air horns any day of the week instead of that dirge.

Highlights are not up on YouTube. They showed the slash and melee this time for a change, rather than just the goals.
You can also see exactly where we were lacking on the goals conceded.

I'm an 'old one' who does like an atmosphere but your sentiments are spot on.

"Out of tune moron" as you probably don't know the fella that's a bit rich really isn't it?

i am all for chanting, louder the better but the megaphone just sounds shit, like people have said it`s out of tune, it an annoying noise rather than a sound that wants you to get going. It must drive the players insane. I have played and attended many sports and never heard an megaphone in any stadium or any sporting event.

What exactly was the face off violation?
The first one was because we changed late. Couldn’t work out whether we were a player short or just decided to change it after our allotted time. Either way it was a stupid thing for us to do and I actually said “watch us get a FO violation now after everything theyve let go…….”

No idea what the second was for. Looked a clean draw but then so do most to me that get blown up.

It absolutely baffles me how people can complain about the megaphone, yeah it's not always brilliant sounding but it works, the entire standing section in 13 was my idea, I have the emails from Todd Kelman about having that block standing which honestly didn't take much convincing because he loved the idea, I use to be a st holder in 13 and it was absolutely dead that end, you could literally hear a mouse fart.

I left that block not because of the fans, drummers or megaphone but because of one person acting like he had a right to dictate what others posted on social media.

That entire block deserve admiration for what they bring every week and even though I'm now over in block 10 I love seeing what 13 brings every week.

I think you should be commended for the block 13 idea. It works well generally and you’re right, there was little atmosphere down that end before. But I respectfully disagree with you that the megaphone works. It doesn’t - at all. In my opinion (and I’m not alone), it kills the atmosphere. It‘s just terrible. No problem at all with the other stuff though.
