The shot map is every interesting. It shows that there devils were getting shots from the right areas and playing with a plan. Also the player by player shots enlightening. Waller having just the one shot suggests that he might have to develop a B game by bulking up a bit over the next few seasons to cope with the top teams.

Whilst the Steelers were clearly keeping things right around brust that have lammon a massive amount of space for his goal. You simply can't vacate the high slot and expect not to concede.

The last game I went to before the first lockdown was against the Steelers. We battered them that day. Then we lost the cup after that. I'm going to really enjoy being there tonight. Can't wait. Hoping for a close game and plenty of goals. Always good to see a rival in town. I'm going 5-4 to Devils.
good prediction..

Didn't watch the game as Ive got better things to spend my time and money on this time of year, but this result was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting them to lose this one. Well done Devils, glad to read that Davies got two goals as well. ✌️

Waller saw very little ice time which surprised me. Don't know if he is carrying an injury, out of favour or just has not fitted in with the new lines. It surprised me as Waller has been one of our best players. Yes occasionally he shows some inexperience and makes risky plays but in addition to his amazing speed and skill his ability to read the game is improving all the time. I hope Skalde gives him a more important role on the team than line 3.5.
That said, I would have never thought those lines would work but they seemed to.

Block 20 is getting a bad reputation for attracting annoying pissheads, and they are reducing the enjoyment of decent fans around them. After 35 yrs of watching and enjoying this club, these arseholes are going to kill this club for many, me included, unfortunately for me I sometimes find it difficult to keep my mouth shut, I wish I could I really do, I was coming Saturday but payed for the webcast even though having a season ticket, because I can concentrate on the game and not on these Morons. These people have no interest in the game and couldnt give a shit about others.

I sit in block 20 row G, have done for the last 3 seasons now. I've only noticed issues with drunk fans in the last few games & that was predominantly people sat behind us - hospitality seats I believe. I didn't see what happened last night.

Security were superb last night as were the stewards. Constantly walking up and down the stairs pointing at people. Couldn’t fault them.

As for the game… I’ve already praised Batch. Davies was superb. Who knew the guy could score too? He always seemed to lack that end product but his first goal was better than his second for me. Ben did what Ben does…. grafted relentlessly so often with little reward and then he finds himself in front of goal and finishes past Chins with ease.
I don’t like calling players out who didn’t perform but given this guy has been superb for weeks I feel it ok do so …. I saw a totally different Crandall game to most it would appear. I thought it was a game to forget for him. At fault for at least two of the goals, missed passes, fanned shots. It was just one of those games for him but others stepped up. Got to stress again that Crandall has been superb for a long time. Funny how we all see the game differently.

Carruth needs some form of test to check he’s human. He was outstanding last night. Got to say though… I have heart failure when he holds the puck behind the net whilst we make a line change! Love that he has that confidence.
good result. Need to make it a great result by getting something against the Clan. Steelers won’t be too disheartened picking up a point against us and we should be chuffed beating who I think will be the eventual league winners.

Result was the most important thing last night, shame it went to OT as we only gain 1 point on the steelers.

I felt our performance is still all over the place, its chaotic hockey, maybe a confidence issue at the moment, another win against the Clan tonight and hopefully start to settle down.

Even though its a win strangely I didnt think the new lines worked at all, Reid was completely anonymous and nullified by his own line mates, thought McNally was very quiet again and struggled to get into the game, hope this isnt turning into him only showing up against the "smaller" clubs.

Couple of frustrating times last night where a chance to shoot was on and our players where trying to beat a few more players and walk it into the net, again maybe a confidence issue. Overall good to get the 2 points but a lot of work to do, the job isnt now done and we need another big performance against the Clan tonight

The officials were very random too. Mikkelson skates out behind the net with the puck and gets tripped - clearly gets tripped - no call, Cox gets elbowed in the face and looks around for a call and doesn't get it then starts roughing the Steeler to get back at him. Looked like a clear too many men on the ice against the Steelers, it gets called then gets over turned. Chins knocks the goals of their mourings twice in goal scoring situations and nothing happens. I'm not a hockey player, nor a rules expert... is there some sort of warning system put in place for goalies who do this or is just a situation by situation thing? Just doesn't seem to be any consistency. Didn't particularly like the referee mocking Skalde's displeasure. They just seem so unprofessional but we know that already.

I only saw the webcast but from that point of view this was an excellent game against a very tough opponent. As others have said, great performances by Davies and Batch amongst many others. Carruth is awesome, we missed anything that went on between Carruth and Brust near the end that other posters have referenced.

All in all an excellent game of hockey with inconsistent refereeing from the Steelers fan. How that goal when Brust knocked off the net did not stand I do not know. I have seen those given in NHL games but I am not sure if the EIHL rules differ in this area. The Steelers were still playing and the goal would have gone in either way but hey very glad to get the win. Onwards and upwards as they say.

Excellent win and the team really showed up. They deserve full credit for this game.

I thought the officials had a great game too. Not often able to say that, but they let the game flow, let the players decide.

I've not seen a replay but I believe the rule is (or was) if the puck leaves the attackers stick before the net is off it counts as would go in either way, if it was released as the net was coming off it doesn't stand. I assume thats what they were checking for?
We've certainly not seen the goal come off the pegs much in the arena (compared to the tent) so I guess it needs the weight of Barry Bus to knock them off.

I really think the officials make it up as they go, Macs goal came off its pegs and the refs allowed the game to continue until we cleared the puck, it was obvious the net was off because Mac stood next to it pointing to the pipes and the official just didn't care. Brust kicking the goal off its pegs seems to be allowed though, and people tell me the refs ain't biased....
