As we approach the tail end of the regular season, the Devils invite the Giants to the Bay. Giants are currently still in the driving seat but Panthers and Steelers are not far behind if the Giants fail to convert their games in hand into points. Our form against Giants this year has been ... less than stellar. Beating them on Friday is going to make it squeaky bum time for them though.

We got nothing to play for so let's get at them and hit them where it hurts...in the standings.

PR should just let our players loose without anyone overthinking this game, and see where it goes. Unshackled, playing their natural game, some athletes are rejuvenated.. ...unless it's something else going on with this team.

It's definitely not dead rubber game.....its a chance to prove to themselves that they can beat the best, a chance to make a statement for their Playoff journey and to give all their very frustrated fans something to smile about.

Burman hopefully will be in as backup. Wonder if he will play in one last game this season?. Hope to see Batchy in the lineup. He has been strong at the back in games this year...replace some defenceman who is not performing up to expectation.

Belfast visit Cardiff for the last time this season aiming to keep their foot on the pedal to win the league. Cardiff will be aiming to avoid a season 'teal-wash'.

Cardiff have never had a season where they’ve failed to beat Belfast where they've been in the same league.

Currently it’s 6-0 to Belfast in matches so far and in these games Belfast have scored 25 goals (including 3 into empty nets) and Cardiff just 6.

Devils stats are quite thin given the one-sided nature of this series.

Our top scorer is Kohen Olischefski with 2 goals.

Cole Sanford’s 3 assists make him our top points scorer against the Giants this season.

We’re 1 from 19 in the powerplay department (5.25% success) and 10 from 12 on the PK (83.33% success).

In the +/- scores, only Brad Schoonbaert is in positive figures at +1. Devils are -91 overall.

3 of Belfast’s wins have been come-from-behind wins.

Devils have led for 20.5% of the game time played, Giants for 51.5% of the game time.

Belfast have had 209 shots on goal, Devils 193.

Belfast have edged face-off wins by 188-180 with Kohen Olischefski winning 60 of his 116.

Cole Sanford is our time-on-ice leader with 21 mins 7 secs average per game.

We’ve learned today that Mac Carruth won’t play due to suspension so if Ben Bowns starts, as expected, his record vs Giants so far is 0-2-1 with 88.89% saves rate and 3.95 goals against per game.

A win for Belfast would leave them then needing 9 points from their remaining 6 games to take the title (fewer if Sheffield and Nottingham drop points). A win for the Devils would be a welcome boost given recent form but would be a huge help to the Panthers and Steelers in their quest for league silverware, and mean Giants then would still need 11 points from 6 games, with two of them being against Nottingham.

I fear the Carruth business will have upended the dressing room somewhat and we might get blitzed tonight. I sincerely hope not. On the other hand it might galvanise them and we give Giants what we have failed to do so far this season!

The beauty of us being bang average and not very entertaining is that I can go to tonights game relaxed and enjoy it. If we're entertaining, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If we get steam rollered, I'll be ok too. The beauty of mediocrity.

I’m massively missing the lack of the “Inside the devils” that was on YouTube this season. I know Ollie left to pursue other opportunities but it was such a valuable insight into the highs and lows through last season and perhaps most importantly allowed fans to get a sense of the dressing room characters and leaders. I particularly remember Joey and Justin Crandall at different times expressing passionately that they wanted more from their teammates and you could see how invested they were and had the Devils ethos that a lot of the fanbase share. I was so impressed that I was actually a bit gutted Crandall wasn’t resigned as I would have proudly worn his shirt to games this season.

I would be fascinated to be a fly on the wall since the Continental Cup as something has felt “off” in the past couple of months.

I hope there is a way to bring it back next season.

Passionately hoping we break our duck against Belfast tonight!

If crandall came back he would be an ideal capt, richie has done a great job , but is he vocal enough in the locker room the last few seasons, when the going was tough we will never know .

Upset and chaos can galvanise a Team...they can be belligerent and angry with a point to prove. Do our Guys feel this way tonight? Who knows?
In reality, this will possibly be another drubbing from the top team in the League. Expectations low tonight so I won't feel emotion either way.

I didn’t realise how great Crandall actually was until he left. That clip on inside the devils showed how passionate he was. Would be great to have him back as we are really missing his passing. Where is he playing now?

With a 0-6 record and such dire stats, I’m hoping PR will have now realised his Plan A doesn’t work against the Giants, therefore, finally FINALLY hoping for a tactical adaptation tonight.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result!

Come on Pete, show us you have some tactical nous!

Devils win tonight.

Big week for the team to have some honest conversations…and we haven’t bothered to travel up the M4.
