Pretty good game to watch, but myself I don’t think we played our normal game myself, it just didn’t seem right or feel right. Brandt was a shadow of himself and maybe words were said to the team after last Sundays fiasco, i can’t put my finger on it but we seemed to be not quite there, anyone else feel that. It was a okay game to watch but hopefully normal services will return for the Steelers game. Congrats to MacDonald though for his deserved hat trick, his runs last night were a pure delight.

Found it a bit of a confusing game.
Thought we started really well, good fore-check and dominated for long spells. Although Ducs outshot us I felt we were unlucky not being more than one ahead.
second period started similar, there was an early face-off in their zone which they won, but we stole the puck before they could clear and kept them penned it for a good two or three minutes.
Then suddenly, the roles reversed. They were pressurising us, keeping us penned in and creating all the chances. Our second was completely against the play and the goal they quickly got back was no less than they deserved.
Third period started with Ducs creating the better chances and when it went 2-2 it was a fair reflection.
At which point the Devils seemed to go up a couple of gears. Scored a good third and from there I never really felt in trouble.
Entertaining game, my only slight concern was we seemed to lack a bit of energy in the second. Maybe a week of high intensity training before-hand?

We’ve got an interesting team this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how things play out. It’s usually the beginning of October before we understand the roles fully and the lines have settled down. What I’m intrigued by is the gamble of scoring across three lines. This feels like a good strategy to wear teams down and with bigger bodies we should get better zone time to create opportunities. What I worry about is when we’re chasing a game, being 2 or 3 goals down and we shorten the lines. Given we don’t have that power 1st line, shortening the lines won’t be as beneficial. Clearly, Thommo would have thought all this through, that’s why I find this team intriguing.
