Devils welcome the Clan to the bay on Friday night. Both teams have had mixed results of late and will be looking to create some momentum for the playoffs.

Clan coming off a 3 game losing streak at home, think they probably had the riot act thrown at them, so beware devils could be a backlash friday night.

With Glasgow’s final trip to South Wales of the season, a win for the Devils will mean they are locked-in to a 4th place finish in the league and home advantage over their upcoming play-off quarter-final opponents.

Cardiff cannot now finish 3rd after Nottingham’s win on Wednesday night.

A Cardiff win will also mean Cardiff cannot then face Glasgow in the quarter-finals as Glasgow wouldn’t then be able to finish above 6th.

And if Cardiff win on Saturday (and/or Sunday), and Nottingham beat Guildford on Saturday night, and if Coventry beat Glasgow on Sunday evening, Devils and Blaze will then be locked in as quarter-final opponents by the end of this weekend allowing them to publish the fixture dates and start selling tickets.

To Friday’s game, the season series between the clubs is 3-2-0 in Cardiff’s favour. Clan won the last game between the clubs 4-1 last month as well as the last game played between the sides in Cardiff in November.

Cardiff have scored 14 goals from 171 SoG (8.19% scoring rate) and Glasgow have scored 13 goals from 167 SoG (7.78% scoring rate).

Starting on time seems important as in this series the team that has scored first in each game has gone on to win 4 out of the 5 games.

Mac Carruth has served his suspension and is back in training but apparently won’t play in this game, so the start goes to either Ben Bowns (2-0-0 and 70 saves from 72 shots (97.22%) against Glasgow this season) or Taz Burman (0-1-0 and 33 saves from 36 shots (91.67%) against Glasgow).

Devils time-on-ice leader in this series is Gleason Fournier (20 min 53 secs per game) but he won’t play either due to his injury.

Of all Cardiff’s 59 blocked shots in the series Cody Donaghey has blocked 15% of them.

The Clan edge the face-off series leaving Devils with a 47.7% face-off win rate.

Josh MacDonald leads the shots on goal total with 21, and he is our top goal scorer in this series with 4 goals. He has also scored points in every one of the 5 games in the series so far. Zach O’Brien is the only other player to put up points in each of the 5 games and he leads the team in points with 8 – all of them assists (4 on the powerplay).

We only average 5.6 PiMs per game (14 minor penalties) that have given Clan 12 powerplay opportunities – they’ve converted just 1 so Devils PK rate is 91.67%. Devils have had 16 powerplays and converted 4 for a 25% success rate.

The series had been tight all year and this is further reflected with the Clan being in the lead for 83 minutes and 53 seconds of game time played, whereas the Devils have led for 85 minutes and 37 seconds – just 1 minute 44 seconds more. The remaining 130 minutes and 30 seconds played have been tied.

Let’s hope we don’t pick up any more injuries.

Good bounceback win, clan didn't offer much in the 3rd after their keeper lost the plot end of 2nd, and why wasn't he not given misconduct penalty for smashing his stick on the ice or even delay of game, if that was carruth it be another 2 game ban and 3 month suspended prison sentence. Let's hope we keep the momentum going at dundee, where the hell does barrow get all that energy, non stop all night..well done devils .

Tidy win. Glasgow seem to be falling off again after at one point looking like they were on a roll and would nab 5th. Looks most likely going to be Blaze to get past to reach finals weekend, but Guildford are quietly accumulating points. Either opponent would be pretty competitive.

So as I mentioned above, that's 4th place locked in for us now, the only other position locked in is Fife in 10th so far.

The only opponents we can now face in the quarter finals will be either Coventry or Guildford.

Coventry play Glasgow, Cardiff and Nottingham.

Guildford play Nottingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

Coventry require 3 points to secure 5th or they need Guildford to drop 3 points, or a combination of both.

Surely we'll now face Coventry in our last two home games?

However, would expect our mission now is to avoid injuries in our last three league games ready for the play-offs as the results in those mean nothing for us for the league. By the time we face Coventry next week both us and they could be locked in to 4th and 5th respectively so no idea what sort of game that would be if so as neither team will want to play rough surely a week before the play-offs.

By the time we go to Sheffield next week they could still be competing for the title and we might just be trying to stay healthy and complete our fixtures. Hard to see us really going for it there and risking things.

Three training session fixtures to come maybe? Rest some players ahead of the 12th/13th April. Give Bayley some ice time? Give Duke or Shinkaruk some game time if either is near ready to play?

Really enjoyed the game, think we've really missed Brandt this season.
He really injects energy, and other players respond to it. He enters their zone aggressively and I saw other players following his lead, rather than the dump and run crap. Even the way he celebrated his goal, you could see the smiles from the rest of the team.

Decent game to watch. I enjoy a Clan game due to the physicality and speed they bring. Brandts goal was superb. There’s nothing better than a 4th line goal for me. Bowns did well again and great to see Batch back. Made some decent a blocks and reads the game well. Still don’t quite understand why he doesn’t play more.
Decent win, an expected win and on to the next.
