Dedicated Curling Rink in Wales

Thread starter #1
The Welsh Curling Association are trying to establish the first dedicated curling rink in Wales. At the moment they have to make to with just 4 hours a week on a Monday at Deeside ice rink.

Get behind their campaign to get a temporary rink built which will help more Welsh people get into the sport and help the existing curlers in their international matches.

Here's their fundraising link:

Not only that but the surface needs to be different for curling than that of skating. Had they been serious they could have incorporated a curling section alongside the public skate rink. You'd benefit from a promotional point of view as a new sport people could view play whilst open to the public, without needing to change/close the rink whilst doing the surface work.

The nearest curling club is north Wales, so the need to have curling facilities incorporated into the design was not there, as with the majority of facilities at the IAW it's been a project of make do, with a little attitude of we don't really have any interest in or knowledge of the business we've been lumbered with. Frankly l doubt Greenbank would be to bothered if the IAW became a supermarket, there not really a company with much interest in running ice rinks.

The whole design of the IAW is frankly, rubbish.
