tbh what is not to like. We now have forward cover and a fight for positions with the top scorer from last year. I'd much rather that than he go to one of our rivals

i am not sure this is a good move, Yes he can score but we moved on and i feel we have a better team this year.

So he would of clearly been offered a deal to stay and turned it down for another league similar to ours, i understand when players move up the leagues ect but are we not just second best here. I just dont see were he fits in the top 2 lines.

I wouldn’t say we have 2 top lines - I would say we have 3 top lines looking at our roster and would expect minutes to be shared out more this year.

Think you’re being a little harsh on Sanford saying he only scores goals, his defensive play came on leaps and bounds last season under PR and was a good PK option.

Strong competition for roster spots and minutes can only be a healthy thing. I’m really excited to see how PR slots this roster together!

Top scorer for the Devils for the last 2 years. 2nd top scorer in the league for the last 2 years. EIHL All Star. Coaches Player of the year. Forward of the Year. Can play PK also.

Im sure we can squeeze him in on the fourth line somewhere ;)

I remember Pelle being a player that stood in the right place and sniped goals (our highest elite goal scorer in a season) but Sanford for me is a better player.

Peter as some awesome choices when testing lines out.

Having Todd and the ownership is a blessing. Think I'll start buying a few shirt off the back tickets every game.

Already talked about what a great signing I think this is but I think it's great news off the ice as well - it'll show the new guys and any potential other big signings that Cardiff is a place that they want to be playing and that the owners, staff and fans will look after their guys. I think it's a huge testament to the hard work that the backroom staff do. To quote a phrase "Happy Hockey days" :)

The DEL2 is similar to our league but I’d say the strength throughout the league is stronger than the EIHL.

However, the big difference is that if you do well in the DEL2 it’s much easier to get spotted by teams in DEL. And that’s where the big money is and exposure to the other top leagues in Europe.

If you want to move up the leagues in Europe then moving to the DEL2 is a very good start.

Exactly. It's a low risk move. He's proven in this league. There was more risk bringing Fournier back given his time away and fans responded well to that. Providing this doesn't upset the team dynamic then it's a sound decision. The guy can score. He may be able to play with less of a chip on his shoulder and avoid those daft scuffles (and then daft penalties) that him and Crawford used to get into. There's plenty of size around him. He can focus on what he does best.

Let’s leave our judgments to end of season, when we will have a better judgement of the situation. It may be wrong, but by the same token it may be spot on. Myself I welcome our top scorer back big time.

So much this. 54 goals IIRC. If you're gonna be a one - trick pony, be the best at it. Ask AC/DC. Though he did have the great Scotty Matzka dishing it to him.

I can only imagine some opinions if he turned up in teal, or orange, against us...

The hardest thing to do in hockey is score goals. He's a proven Defcon1 threat to any defence and N/M. Delighted he's back.
