From Cardiff Devils website:
"The Cardiff Devils have suspended netminder Mac Carruth after his behaviour postgame in Nottingham on Wednesday night towards a Panthers' fan.
To be clear, we do not accept this kind of behaviour from any player or staff member.
The club are in the process of doing a full investigation, but Carruth will not be in the lineup this weekend against the Belfast Giants or the Manchester Storm."

What ever he did obviously not right. He was being abused and sworn at by the crowd when leaving the ice. I suspect his head was gone after being left out to dry by the defence. Only so much he can take!

Basically fans are now allowed to throw profanites at hockey players without any sort of repercussions, this is beyond a fucking joke.

I don't know the ins & out but from what I hear panthers fans were chirping Carruth & allegedly either swore and/or made fun of girls teeth.

Agree and not condoning his behaviour.
Things clearly aren’t right at the club, he’s been hung out to dry in several games this season.
Obviously reached his limit last night.

For balance he has always been a gentleman to my daughter around the rink, before and after games, at signings, post game skates and when we’ve bumped into him away from the rink.

If this is the sole and genuine reason then this is utter woke nonsense.

Given what we know about Mac’s character I wouldn’t be surprised if there has been another difference of opinion and this is just an excuse. Players of other teams have done far worse things that have gone unpunished.

Perfect excuse for the club to deflect from the dreadful performance whilst everybody talks about the off ice drama.

They threw profanites at him, apparently the girl in question is apparently angel who never does anything wrong, but then it was her parents who were throwing profanites and then it was the parents and the girl throwing insults and profanites.

Was mac in the wrong for having a go back at a bunch of people throwing profanites? Absolutely not if these so called fans can't handle being ripped a new one when they've started the altercation regardless of age and gender if you throw stones and live in a glass house you'll get what you get.

I've seen posts saying they were chirping and having banter and Mac snapped.. No that's absolute bullshit chirping is one thing but banter or what some people are calling banter now a days is where they are allowed to treat someone like shit, verbally abuse them without any repercussions or punishment.

I get the club needed to do something but where is the punishment for the abuse he received? Oh yeah there won't be any at all.

I'm not gonna condemn him for it. If someone was insulting him and he chirped back, it's not exactly crime of the century.

The alleged incident apparently involved a 13 year old so I suspect that is what tipped this towards an investigation
Well they better do an absolute stellar investigation then and ban the fans and kid involved when it comes out that they were all throwing profanites, or are they gonna make an example out of Mac which then allows idiots to abuse players without consequences

I'm not saying he should have done it, it was a stupid & unprofessional thing to do. Coach should have a word making it clear not not to do it again. That's it though I guess. I can't see him coming back now.

Perhaps that's why there was no post match interviews, think his season could be over with only handful of games left ..mind you love it if we got to po finals and beat Nottingham at some point

I was there and as he was going off he was being given the wanker sign and the middle finger, in fairness another Russell mistake, I would of swapped it for bowns because the defence was shit for him and he was hit and no call given.

Who knows what’s gone on, but seems a bit woke for suspending him for responding to a fan. Fair enough if Nottingham also suspended the fan(s) in question, but where does this woke nonsense ever end?

It’s not exactly a Matt Nickerson punch a fan level is it !

For gods sake, bring back the good old pre-snowflake days and drop this modern wide organisational culture as wanting to be seen as gleaming moral examples FFS !

This season has been a total shit show on so many levels.

Bit of a joke if everything said is true. Just think it’s the easy option for the Devils - chances are Bowns was going to play the weekend fixtures anyway and we’ve got Taz to back up so we won’t be in a drastically worse position suspending him over the weekend (assuming that’s all it is).

The whole league has attracted a toxic fanbase, they want to go and watch a high paced sport that's played with an edge and they are happy enough to give it the big un on twitter but at games it's meant to be a 'family sport' and they get offended at the slightest thing. I'd rather save up money and go and watch games in mainland Europe Sat amongst genuine fans than be involved in the circus the eihl has created. It's sad to see how much has changed since late 90s/early 2000s.
