1-1 after 2 periods and the Devils have been slow and sloppy especially the second period. More intensity needed for the last 20, finish hits, get Batchy on the ice more and let him cause havoc.

Didn’t see that performance coming as we’ve been so strong at home. The boys couldn’t string two passes together for large parts. Thought Hotham and Pope had one of those nights where everything they touched went wrong. At least we got the all important two points tho. Play like that next weekend in Belfast tho and it will be a long weekend. How good was that finish from Asselin?! Outstanding

Main thing is we got the W. You have poor games but winning ugly is more satisfying at times despite being frustrating to watch.

Onto tomorrow

One of the worst performances I've seen all year but it probably made it more entertaining. Without being too arrogant, if we played well we'd blow them away.

So many players just couldn't get going today, but that's sport. You can't play well all the time. 2 points however you look at it.

If your going to have a stinker, then have it and still win 2-1, we were very poor tonight, against a pretty poor opponent. Still we pulled out a win and good teams do just that.

2 valuable points....possibly the two most valuable so far in the league this season.
That was a painful, ugly game to watch but champions find ways to win and Devils did their job. Hopefully they will have the killer instinct to cope tomorrow night too....because the Blaze will be angry and nasty.

Blaze played a perfect negative road game. Blaze worked hard to disrupt everything. Devils got themselves sucked into it and were playing poorly anyway. Our usual well-oiled PP was atrocious, inaccurate passing and too
many turnovers/board battle losses.

Understand the need to conserve and manage energy levels in a busy schedule but was suprised by the lack of physicality, especially in order to win board battles. Lordo mentioned the importance of using big bodies down the stretch - disappointing that Batchy and Big Lou got very few shifts. Why is that? Are they still carrying injuries?

Apart from the solid netminding of Bownsey, the classiest play of the night was Asselin's GWG - excellent in his timing and positioning.
Don't know who got MOM but Ben surely deserves it for his consistency.

It does sound a bit arrogant really considering that although you’ve taken the spoils, apart from one game, you seem to have struggled against us this year, each time you play us it’s close....... because you don’t play well. Why would that be do you think?

We weren’t good tonight, but blaze were dire. The game as a whole was pretty boring, the last 10 mins thankfully saved it from being a borefest. Blaze need a complete overhaul if they want to seriously be a threat.

Because it's 1st v 10th. Devils should be taking that game all day long.

The Devils seem to have a slight issue every now & again with conceding short handed goals due to sloppy play. Fortunately it didn’t cost them tonight.

Because we’re first and the opposition 10th doesn’t mean we have a right to win. We may not have been at our best tonight like we have been in the first periods of many home games but then once the opposition has then worked out how to stop us you can’t then turn around and say they were dire.

We battled through it and got the points which is what champions have to do in tight games. I thought Blaze played a great D game and their netminder played exceedingly well.

We were also fortunate with the call on Fournier; hope Ferrara is ok.

I’m sure Lord will be working on the video tonight and tomorrow in preparation for the return.

Great night of results elsewhere for us too.

With the run of games coming up the plan seemed to be to play a containing role and trust to superior skill to get a couple of goals while the d held solid. Not a bad plan but it has risks - which became apparent when we couldn’t increase our lead in the first & then a (very rare) mistake from Myers gifted them their equaliser. It wasn’t until the last 5 minutes that we upped the intensity.
A good two points - I’m sure giants, Fife or Steelers would have been happy with an ugly win tonight.
