With both NMs re-signed; 4 out of 6 of the D corps re-signed (thus far)...the message appears to be that we were happy with the amount of goals conceded last season - we need to score more.
We had the joint best Goals Against in the league (122, joint with Giants). Goals For was 3rd (195) behind Steelers (196), and Giants (207).

And rightly so IMO.
122 goals conceded in the league is our best defensive record since the 2004-05 season, and that was only a 50 game league season.
Only a handful of teams have conceded less than that in recent EIHL history. Bar one or two games, conceding goals wasn't our problem, scoring goals was.
And that is why I think there might be some tough (and unpopular) decisions amongst our forwards. I think I said earlier in the off-season that I wouldn't be against Sanford or McDonald returning but I feel we need to upgrade on one of them.

I agree. I appreciate some of the criticism that he gets but he is a proven goal scorer and I would rather him playing for us than against. We should be looking at improving our goal scoring and I'm sure management are on the case, always nice to have a new name, adds to pre- season anticipation. On the Cage forum they seem quite convinced that Sandford is heading their way along with Perlini. Time will tell.
Would be sad to see those 2 leave as long as we get two that will improve our goals tally , as replacements and we must not forget we be nowhere near belfast and Sheffield in goals scored if brandt had an avg season, but he came up trumps with 18 I believe in his best ever season with us ., fans saying he is flames bound but dont rule out storm , they be looking for players that will put bums on seats in that huge arena. Just saying
If we had scored an extra 13 goals and been the highest scorers in the league would have made all the difference and won us the league? I don’t think so. I think more important is getting in a big game player who can make a difference in the tight games. It feels like a lot of the games we lost, especially at the start of the season were by the odd 1 goal, could have been a different story if we had a balmas type player who can come up big in the big moments. For the critism Sanford gets, his points production speaks for himself, if he had been on the same line as kontos earlier in the season I think that 12 goals behind Belfast would have been a lot less
