Tougher covid restrictions - risk to hockey?

Stereophonic have cancelled their December gig in Cardiff. It looks like they've been given the nod about tougher restrictions by Welsh Govt.

Nothing has been officially announced by Welsh government, the review is expected on Friday but it looks holding mass gatherings are going to get tricky.

This potentially could affect ice hockey, particularly as one of the last things that was allowed to open is likely to be one of the first things to see restrictions if & when new regs come in.

With the tougher restrictions on the way it definitely puts the arena in a really tight spot, I can see the arena being closed again or the mask exemption being nullified and if the arena is allowed to stay open it'll be as a slightly reduced capacity and masks have to be worn or you can't attend.

Either way its looking like squeaky bum time at the arena

Lets be calm about this for now. Things like nightclubs and concerts without seating are more likely to suffer first as no real restrictions with movement within venues and you can't see nightclub goers keeping masks on all night or standing concerts.
With IAW the arena itself could implement a "No exemption" rule if they wish as they can make up the rules for their own business, the same as bars could say "No children" if they wish, like some areas say "No dogs" so the IAW can have rules just for their venue.

I think the most likely outcome is a vaccine passport will be required but closures of any venue are incredibly damaging and also (given the 'party'), politically disastrous

Think it’ll be the introduction of COVID Pass to IAW. Without financial support & furlough money off the government they can’t ask businesses to shut completely.

Why should we do what boris and muppets say after their antics last Xmas...throwing a party when we were all in lockdown. And 600 people died that day with covid.

Because regardless of what anyone in government says it does, it's the right thing to do and furthers or interests of keeping our team alive.

Most of the chain restaurants in Wales have been doin regional manager meetings this week, then venue managers Thursday/Friday, much to the dismay of many due to the time of yr. Whispers are that the Welsh Government are preparing businesses for some increase in restrictions, possibly lockdown. This year is the first Xmas since 94 that’s landed on a weekend, the two extra bank holidays mean it’s a double Xmas for hospitality. This will kill the industry, might explain the lack of any player changes, no point bringing in players if there’s no hockey to play......

Can't be all NHS staff this rumour is going around, maybe one hospital, one surgery where someone has started the rumour as i and my partner haven't heard it, that's not to say it's not true though.
