Everyone will get Covid, just as everyone gets milder colds & Flu‘s (unless they die first, mathematical high % will get) it’s just a matter of time. Even with a Vaccine people will still die. Spread over time the impact is less noticeable, becomes normal, as in the case of seasonal flu. The U.K. government does not record seasonal flu deaths, some estimates range from a few thousand to tens of thousands every year. It’s high enough to get A&E stretched. As with seasonal flu, this Virus will remain, a vaccine given & death rates ignored.

Just a matter of time........

Did I break the law? (answers no). Do I follow guidlines set by our government and by the governments of the countries I choose to visit. Yep. So on your bike Gary. People can do as they please as far as I'm concerned. But I won't take sly back handed digs from someone that hides behind a username online.
People who go round wearing masks, insisting on a 2 metre gap, then going out to get pissed on a weekend, aren't breaking the law. They're still crass, selfish, irresponsible assholes though.

As are those who invited all their family and friends into their homes for a bbq, hugged, coughed & kissed the night away........
True, but seeing loved ones is often essential for numerous reasons. Going out on the lash is far from essential. Comparing the two is ridiculous. Plus, the government are hardly going to state, "yes, we made a massive boo boo opening the pubs and clubs and have put our country under even more strain". Its easier to blame something, and somebody else. Dont be so naive and gullible. Only those hitting the town for a few shandy's are going to fall for that one! The pubs were opened to help kick start the economy. Not much of a thought for peoples health.

I would feel a lot more comfortable and safe having several family members over for a bbq than I would sat in a pub with a few hundred strangers!

It’s not ridiculous it’s the current scientific reason behind the current spike in cases. What is to blame is people. The location has no consequence, you can visit a room full of Covid infected patients, follow the correct PPE and actions and walk away uninfected. You visit your family, assume everyone is healthy, ignore guidelines and there you go, spreading it around. Básically we are all in this together, equally to blame. Be that in a pub or restaurant or a child’s playgroup or at home.

Is not being sat in the garden with several family members not safer and less of a risk than being sat in a pub with a few hundred strangers? The reason they give is nonsense. Seriously.

Evidence suggests that the majority haven‘t done as you’ve suggested though. My point being is you cannot blame one section of either society or the location, it’s people, people are not perfect, people make bad decision, mistakes and assumption. It’s also proven fact that this virus can survive on certain surfaces for long periods of time.
What if Mrs Smith visits her parents, along with her brother and his family, all sitting in the Garden with the children. All following social distancing guidelines, then one of them coughs, due to habit uses a hand in front of the mouth instead of into the elbow. Instead of immediately cleaning that hand with sanitiser (which someone else holds because holding the bottle can spread to others if shared or reinfect you) at some point touches the hand rail of the garden chair or a plate or touches a child or whatever that uncleaned hand touches. Then others touch it, the possibilities for reinfection & spread are vast.
You don’t need to be in a pub for this scenario, it could be anywhere that a person makes a bad decision or just doesn‘t think.

People ain’t perfect as you say, they are from it, but we have to live with that it’s a fact, and some are dumber than others. All we can do is our best, you certainly won’t change all the people unfortunately, by the same token you can’t stay indoors indefinatly it’s a catch 22.

Thought the idea of this thread was to discuss the season being suspended, it's turned into a political "debate" and digs at each other, regardless of what others are doing be it idiotic/selfish/uneducated or what ever I really don't think this is the thread for it....

The start of the season could be delayed further, today’s headlines. Only 10-12% of people around the world will be given a Vaccine once one is found.

Analysis of global manufacturing capacity shows just two billion doses could be made in 2021, even if a vaccine was given the green light by safety regulators at the start of the year.
But with seven of the nine prototype vaccines in late-stage clinical trials requiring two doses, that's likely to be enough to immunise only a little over 12% of the 7.8 billion people who need it.
Dr Cleo Kontoravdi, associate professor of chemical engineering at Imperial College London, told Sky News: "We have to be clear that in the first instance not everybody will have access to the vaccine. We do not have the manufacturing capacity."

Dude, l didn’t write the article.

The Guardian article you refer too states the U.K. government has agreed to buy from potential vaccine suppliers. It gives no supply time line, so yes we have agreed to buy them. Any vaccine produced will be licensed to supply Worldwide spread over potentially several years, as the article, the most recent, clearly states.
