Bit of a worry!

Really annoys me that away fans think they can visit our Rink, drink our beer, sing their songs, have a good night and to top it off their team Will come and win the game!
Anyway see you Sunday when you will do all of the above!
No love seeing plenty of away supporters makes the atmosphere better hope there's plenty of you on Sunday just keep your kids in check please

Only tongue in cheek comment as you are visiting us on Sunday.
We get all of the same at the skydome as you get at IAW, the announcer does ask people to wait for a break in play before using the stairs, but generally new people don’t seem to understand.

No problem with kids running around, new fans etc etc but I hope we never welcome anti-social, foul mouthed yobs solely intent on getting plastered and effecting the enjoyment of those in their vicinity. I’ve seen too many of them this year at IAW unfortunately.
Agree. Those kids are the season ticket holders and potential players of the future. Whilst I agree that they need to maintain a certain standard of behaviour. They are kids. I’d never let mine run around but when I brought my little one, aged two, they were more interested in the chuck a puck or Taz than the game. Keeping them occupied for two and a bit hours was a struggle. Then again I used to just say the game was only two period long and we’d leave early but now, five years on, my little one has a shirt every season, attends most home and a large majority of away games and has a better understanding and knowledge of the game than most adults (including some previous owners!!).
I think we need some tolerance but I’d still like to see the parents of the kids that are running around apply even a little bit of discipline so they understand that the primary purpose for being at IAW is to watch a game!

's not what it was.

There is a smokers exit/area but why would kids and their parents want to go out into a crowd of smokers. I smoke but would not want my grandkids out there.

The old days when non-smokers went out to socialise and their kids came with them have gone
That’s a very good point and I didn’t like trying to hold my breath until I made it far enough away lol

I used to smoke and think it’s great they have one entrance for smokers; but you make a great point and so why not approach Katrina with a suggestion for a ‘non smokers’ exit and entrance to be opened too? [emoji1474]

It was great in the WNIR where you had the cafe that overlooked the ice so kids could be occupied whilst parents still watched the action. Shame there’s nothing similar at the IAW.

In all fairness I thought your original post was fair and balanced. It was Kingmo and Rabbitoh that decided to make stupid comments.
Eh? Just because my comment didn't concur with your opinion, it doesn't make it stupid. Seems quite a few people on here have also noticed the same thing. I'm glad to hear that your children are well behaved.

Surely you can see how frustrating it is for a fan to be sat next to / in and around unruly kids? Takes the pleasure away from watching the game - ever tried watching a film in the cinema with people talking and messing around behind you? Spoils it somewhat. Younger kids just don't have the attention span and most are getting a bit grumpy / irritable as the night goes on. Kids sprinting around the concourse and around the steps is a recipe for disaster.

Makes you wonder, where were all those kids at the BBT ? Maybe it wasn't quite such an accommodating facility - a bit more rough and ready, bit more intimidating for the parents to bring them along? Don't recall seeing the same number of kids at the WNIR either.

In the BBT they hung out by the RAT desk and reception and went outside.

There is no safe space - where people are carrying hot drinks or walking up and down open stairs - at IAW. At IAW the space behind the bar stage is one hangout as is reception but that is all There is really nowhere to really to let off steam indoors

Are there more kids? I'm not sure but I don't think the cramped space was as attractive to run round as IAW

Every arena is the same, in fact if you go to places like Shuff/NIC there's huge thick walkways where the bars etc are, and there's always kids playing floor hockey. (i often feel sorry for the goalie as he doesn't wear any padding!!!

Great for them to spark an interest in our niche sport by getting involved.

Agreed but with the larger areas you do not have to dodge the kids to the same extent and they are not running around all over the place

Also IIRC they tend to mainly play in door ways or at the ends of the concourse away from the crush. IAW does not have this space and never will

In all the posts here let's not lose sight of the issue. It is not kids at games, it is not anti kids. I sit next to 2 "culprits" who watch the game intently and play regularly for the juniors and that's great. At period breaks though their parents do try and balance the great freedom the kids have to move around IAW safely with the risk of "running wild" - not an easy job!

There is though a safety issue here
