Deeds Blog

Throughout the summer I had many offers to go to numerous teams in many different leagues, both in North America and in Europe. Right before I made my decision I had an in depth chat with my agent as to what would be the best opportunity for me. After many talks with Franny my decision became more and more clear and I knew Cardiff was what was best for me. There were many factors that played into the decision I made, but none more than the fact that I saw how committed G and Franny are to putting together a team that can win a championship. It was also nice to know that the city of Cardiff and the franchise are both very well respected throughout the UK.

Coming into this season not only do I want to be a physical presence for the Red Army but I want to contribute in all aspects of the game. I am a hard working hard nosed guy who will put his body on the line every night and will do whatever I can to bring a championship to Cardiff. With the style of game I play my fights will come but I want to be more than just a one dimensional player and I know I have the ability to do so.

Throughout the summer I am in the gym twice a day doing a cardio workout in the morning and weight training in the afternoon. As the summer moved along I found myself on the ice more and more trying to improve my game. There was nothing better than coming home from a workout/skate and looking at my twitter to see what jealous fans from across the league tweeted me in anger because I chose to sign with the best organization in the EIHL...(being the pest I am you know I had to stir the pot a bit too). When I'm not in the gym or winding people up on twitter I like spending time with family and friends. Over the past two summers I've put the golf clubs away and picked up the tennis racket. It's a nice way for me to stay active and still have fun with my buddies. It is also nice relaxing with family and friends as I am normally gone for a pretty big chunk of the year.

I'm thrilled to be getting the chance to throw on the Devils jersey this upcoming season and will do all I can to bring a championship to Cardiff. It is an honour to play for such a respected franchise with such an awesome fan base.
