Deeds Blog - Part 7

Hey Devils Fans!!

First I want to start off by thanking you all for giving us the support we needed against Nottingham on Sunday, when our crowd is loud and into it like that its almost as if we have an extra man on the ice with us. The atmosphere in the BBT is like nothing I have experienced before and must be so hard for opposing teams, we have by far the most passionate fans in the league and the BBT is hands down the loudest arena in the EIHL.

I thought this weekend was the first time all year our team has played a full 60 minutes. In both games we can out very hard and and didn't take our foot off the gas until the final buzzer went. This weekend we proved to ourselves that we can play and beat the top teams in this league, although both Nottingham and Sheffield have NHL'ers and a higher paid team, we have more heart and I truly believe we want it more than any other team in our league. Both G and Franny demand a strong work ethic and a never give up mentality and when every guy on the squad buys into that concept it makes for a very tough team not only to play against but to beat, there is a old saying "hard work beats talent when talent isn't working" and I am a firm believer in that.

Having lost Miliam earlier in the week I thought our defenders did an excellent job of stepping up to the new challenge. I thought Josh Batch had an amazing weekend, and when he uses his size and strength he is a very tough defender to play against. Josh is my flat mate here in Cardiff so I have been trying to toughen him up every since I have got here, if anyone ever wants tickets we do bare knuckling boxing every Tuesday night in the kitchen, this normally results in Josh crying in the corner but you have to give the kid an A for effort.

I have been joking around on twitter telling my old teammate Steven Stamkos to come to Cardiff, seriously thou who needs Stamkos when you have Mac Faulkner. This guy is going to have more goals by christmas than I have scored my whole career. Even thou I know Big Mac showers with his gloves on I offered to teach him how to fight for some tips on how to score some more goals, Mac being the guy he is just told me to get him the puck and the assists will come my way!! What a good teammate!

This weekend is going to be huge for us, we have a team we have never played all year coming in and then two big games against Coventry. Although on paper we are better than Dundee we can not take them lightly and need to respect the fact that they do have some very talented players, Thursdays game is a game that we need to win we can not afford to give up points to teams we sit higher than in the standings. Both Saturday and Sundays games against Coventry will be a war. We seem to have a great deal of success against Coventry this year and hopefully history repeats itself. It would be great if we could win all three games this weekend as we would keep climbing in the standings and get closer to that 1st place spot that we want.

Lets make sure the BBT is rocking Thursday and Sunday as I know we will give you something to cheer about!! If there is anything you would like me to write about please tell Geraint or myself and I will do my best to incorporate it into my blog! Forgive me thou, I lack the education of my blog partner Chris Blight!!

Cheers
