Captains Blog - Part 8

Hello Devils fans, hope all is well. First off I would like to thank everyone who came out to our training session last night (Thursday). Hopefully for those that did they enjoyed the little behind the scenes look at what we do every day at the rink.

I don’t really want to talk too much about last weekend’s games, it was just more of the same and I would sound like a broken record, another two 1 goal games lost. Right now we are finding ways to lose instead of finding ways to win. As I said though I prefer to look forward and onto our weekend trip to Hull and Sheffield, I hear some people are going to be making the trip and I must say the support away from home has been amazing. The game in Hull is a key game for both sides, each of us is still trying to lock down that playoff spot and 2 points would go a long way in doing that.

We just passed the half way mark in the NHL season and most teams have around 20 games left. There have been a few surprises so far. Montreal sitting in 1st place in the East is something I don’t think many people would have expected. In the West the run of undefeated games the Blackhawks had was exceptional. Also it is nice to see Sidney Crosby back healthy and on top of his game, when he is there is no one better.

I was lucky enough to go Cheltenham this week for my first ever taste of horse racing and it was quite the experience! No big winner for me on the day but still it is lots of fun.

For those of you not coming away this weekend it will be a big day in Cardiff on Saturday with the final of the Six Nations. Unfortunately for us we won’t be able to catch the game but I’m sure it will be a classic. I was shocked to see the tie breaking formula for when two teams finish with equal points, surely head to head is a better tie breaker then point differential? But I will leave that up to the powers that be.

Thanks everyone, hope to see you this weekend or at the Coal Exchange Monday for the year end awards.

Cheers,

Stu
