Devils MacRae

Hello again Devils fans I hope everyone is doing well. Last week was a tough one for us. I thought we played well all weekend but came away with nothing to show for it. However there were some positives to be taken away.

It is starting to look like we will play Sheffield in the playoffs and we have done well up there this year and Saturday was no different, which will be a great confidence boost if we do match up against them. Although we didn’t win the game we did outshoot them and manage to score 4 goals, which is quite difficult on the road.

Sunday was a back and forth game against the league leading Panthers. It is not difficult to see why they are on the top; they don’t have very many weak spots on their roster. We got down 2-0 but it was great to see the response from the guys in battling back. It was tough to lose the game the way we did, our PK has done a great job for us this year but unfortunately Nottingham was able to get 2 goals on the power play which ended up being the difference. Special teams are such an important part of close games and playoff hockey so hopefully that is something we can take away from this game.
Whits played well for us on the weekend especially with only a couple training sessions under his belt. He is looking forward to the rest of the year and will only get better as he settles in.

I am writing this on the afternoon of the Coventry game so hopefully we have picked up the 2 points by the time you are reading.

Sunday we have the Giants coming into the tent. We haven’t faced them in a while. They will have a different look with Zemlak in the net and 1 less import playing out, but they always seem to play well when they come to Cardiff.

Outside of the hockey world it is a big weekend of sports coming up. I am very excited to be going to my first ever 6 nations game on Saturday! The atmosphere will be unbelievable, expectations are not what you would expect for Wales considering they are the defending champs but hopefully that can work in their benefit. Sunday we have the spectacle we like to call the Super Bowl, this is huge back home so all the guys get into and we have a pretty good time with it. My money is going on the Ravens!

That’s all for me this week folks. Thanks for the continued support, talk to you next time!

Stu
