Blighters Blog Part 15

This weekend is definitely the most important weekend of our season so far. There has been a lot going on the past week with Phil leaving for Norway and Chris coming in. I’ve seen Chris play one practice and he looked very good considering he just got in that day. Everyone who has done it knows how hard that travel is and it is especially harder when you have to practice the day you arrive.

We’re really going to miss having Phil around. He was a great guy and a great athlete. He worked extremely hard and really cared about winning. You could tell by how intense he was that he really wanted to win and was committed to doing whatever it took. We are all sad to see him go but wish him the best in Norway. Myers did a great job last week filling in for Phil. He hasn’t played much in the past few years and works a full time job. He gave us a chance to win the game and that is all you can ask of a goalie.

Going forward we have a lot to prove to each other in the room this weekend I think. We have done a good job of being a resilient club this year considering all of the injuries and player turnover we have had. We have never had a full line up and yet we are still in 4th place. At times this year we were 2nd and 3rd place as well. We’ve proven we can beat every team and even the 1st place team, who we have beaten twice.

Down the stretch we have a tough schedule playing mostly southern conference teams. This is good however as it allows us to control our destiny and make up ground on the teams ahead of us.

G and Franny are busy trying to get one more player that will be the final piece in the puzzle. I think I speak for everyone when I say this team is due for a hot streak and now is as good a time as any.
